Shane Bieber Earns Opening Day Nod For Guardians

The Cleveland Guardians have chosen Shane Bieber to be the club's Opening Day starting pitcher for the third straight season.

The unsurprising news was announced by the team yesterday.

The 2020 AL Cy Young Award winner missed about half the season due to injuries last season, but he was strong when healthy, going 7-and-4 with a 3.17 ERA and 134 strikeouts in 96-and-two-thirds innings.

Meanwhile, in Spring Training yesterday, the Guardians lost to the Mariners 3-2. Zach Plesac will man the rubber for Cleveland against Arizona tonight.
